The New Show
A new show will foster dreams and perpetuate the legend in spring 2015.
The Lido has entrusted the design of the new production to the internationally renowned director Franco Dragone, whose work has already enthralled over 85 million people around the world.
His productions include « The House of Dancing Water » in Macao and « A New Day » , Céline Dion's performances in Las Vegas.
Inspired by the magic of Paris, the new show keeps the core of the Lido revues and adds the daring of new designers—dazzling Bluebell Girls and amazing stage design / artistics. With a series of breathtaking sets, sumptuous costumes and a deluge of strass, feathers and sequins, enchanting colours...
The spectators leave for an awe-inspiring voyage, with a sparkle in their eyes like never before.
L... as in Luminous, I... as in Innovative, D... as in Delicious, O... as in Oh what magic !
Author and Artistic Director
Raised in the pure tradition of the Comedia dell’arte, Franco Dragone early left his native Italy, first joining the Gaulier course in Paris, then travelling Europe to hone his talent.
His entry into the Compagnie du Campus was his passport to production, where, between 1985 and 1999, he put on the Cirque du Soleil's first ten spectacles.
At the same time, Franco opened in France with the creation of the Archaos circus, standard bearer of the New Circus concept.
And by launching his own company, the artist showed that he knew how to behave both as an entrepreneur and a manager.
Today, the Lido is delighted to welcome this dreamer with the limitless imagination.
Benoît Swan Pouffer
Born in Paris, Benoît Swan Pouffer studied dance at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse at the Porte de Pantin before continuing his training at the Alvin Ailey Dance School in New York.
In 2005, his work for cinema, television and stage was recognised by the CITT Award in the realm of acrobatic rigging.
He then took over the direction of the sixteen dancers of the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet company, where he exercised his talents as a choreographer until 2013, his artistic and avant-gardiste vision bringing a breath of fresh air to the New York scene.
Considered one of the greatest talents in this field, from now on he will be creating his dazzling choreographies in the legendary setting of the Lido.
Nicolas Vaudelet's career is marked by the great names of international fashion: Dior, Louis Vuitton, Christian Lacroix, Givenchy and Jean-Paul Gaultier.
These prestigious collaborations have allowed him to assert a very personal style, which all his creations reflect today.
A lover of Spanish aestheticism, Nicolas combines modernity and classicism to sublimate his materials while still respecting them: a designer whose youth and talent make him a trend-setter in the world of fashion.
Graphic Conception and Set Designer
The setting for the Opening Ceremony of the 1992 Olympic Games in Albertville: that was Jean Rabasse.
He has sowed his genius in many areas, from film sets to the theatre designs for dance, opera and circus productions.
Rewarded in 1996 with the César for Best Production Design for The City of Lost Children, he returned in 2001 for Vatel.
These awards are the culmination of an impressive career in film, ranging from Vidocq to Asterix, passing by the very Parisian Faubourg 26 and the unforgettable Delicatessen.
TeaserFor its next show, the Lido gives pride of place to its famous colour: blue. A mysterious blue, both dark and sparkling, which hints at its creation without revealing it.
A blue like a sketch, an invitation to Parisian joie de vivre. And especially, a blue which reminds us that on the most beautiful avenue in the world, night takes pride of place.
Art Nouveau TableauAnd all at once, at the end of the 19th century, you're rebelling against the effects of industrialisation.
It's a reinvention. In this tableau, we welcome imagination, architectural genius, rhythm and colour! The sumptuous central stairway unwinds to allow dancers, dressed in majestic feathered costumes, to descend. Leaving a place for the leader, they line up on the scene in a single movement.
It's a guard of honour for Art Nouveau, clearly showing the return of the curve.
Eiffel Tower TableauFrom its 324 m. height, the tower stands like a queen above its city. This grandiose tableau is designed as a true declaration, addressed to the symbol of the French capital.
Raising his eyes, the spectator finally sees it appear: dazzling, rising in a shower of blue and silver fireworks. A truly beautiful way of dressing our Iron Lady.
